The opportunity

The Lead Network Security Engineer is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing network security architecture and components to help secure the company's data and computing environment. As a subject matter expert in security engineering and architecture, the candidate will work cross functionally with both internal teams and external entities to design, implement, and configure technical and administrative security controls to improve the company's security posture. This individual will play a major role in helping to shape the IT security roadmap.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with multiple technology and business groups across our global organization on new and existing projects and initiatives.
  • Design and implement secure communication patterns between application and system components in Azure, AWS and on-prem
  • Assist with security reviews, risk assessments and incident response. Lead the effort in researching, designing, testing, and implementing security controls in network, endpoint, email, and cloud technologies.
  • Maintain, configure, and analyze security platforms and tools.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on Cloud security, in both Azure/0365 and AWS.
  • Lead network vulnerability management efforts across the company's infrastructure and applications.
  • Develop and implement technical hardening standards for systems within the company's computing environment.
  • Assist with response, remediation, and resolution of security incidents, risks, and audit findings.
  • Provide coaching and awareness through internal blogs, roadshows and lunch and learn sessions about network security.

What we are looking for

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in an IT security & operations role with hands-on experience in network security engineering, architecture, and programming/scripting (Python, Terraform, ARM, shell).
  • Advanced knowledge of security controls and best practices across a range of infrastructure components including firewalls, switches, IaC, Azure VNets, Azure Namespaces, Azure Network Policies, AWS VPCs, AWS Network Access Control Lists, Windows/Linux systems, and network and authentication protocols.
  • Thorough understanding of network attack methods and remediation.
  • Deep knowledge of security architectures, frameworks, and controls including but not limited to knowledge of network IPS/IDS, firewalls, proxies, packet capture and analysis tools, VPN, web/email filters, WAF, SIEM, DLP and endpoint
  • Familiarity with security frameworks (NIST SP 800-53, ISO 27001, CIS).
  • Working experience with Microsoft Azure/0365 and AWS is required.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple high priority projects
  • Very strong problem-solving skills
  • CISSP and other relevant security certifications are a plus. Prior work experience in Financial Services industry is also a plus.
